Class Descriptions

A yoga teacher is a “guide” who assists you to stretch, reach, move, release, energize and strengthen your body and well-being. Here is a description of our classes. Please attend at a time that fits your schedule. We can assess your needs and help you find a variety of classes. Our classes focus on personalized instruction in small groups. We take great pride in your body’s safety and your mind’s well-being.

Beginners/Intro: Please refer to the Beginners’ page.

Level 1-3: A mixed level class for beginners and continuing students.

Level 2-3: For intermediate/advanced students.

Gentle: Students with physical limitations due to injury, stiffness or other mind/body issues. Look for Kathleen, Walter, Adrienne or Mary on our schedule.

Restorative: Restorative yoga is designed to provide ease in our heart, in our practice, and in our life. In class students are completely supported with soft props into easy poses, which are held for longer periods of time, in perfect comfort. During  the deep relaxation that restorative yoga triggers, the body begins  to balance itself naturally and gently opens in ways it cannot do in an active practice.

Pre/postnatal: Please attend Kathleen’s (who has taught pre/post natal for years) Beginner’s or Restorative classes.

Movement: An active class, building heat from within, moving from posture to posture. You have the ability to work your way into this class as we all have. You may rest throughout class as needed, without judgement (with the chance of a little caring backrub…).

Iyengar Yoga for Seniors: A very gentle class for beginners as well as 50+, focusing on strengthening the body, increasing balance and flexibility with props.
